Proposal sent to Nordic Council of Ministers by BioValue and PlanMiljø

In collaboration with the consultancy PlanMiljø, the BioValue Secretariat answered a tender from the Nordic Council of Ministers to support and facilitate a strategy process for the Nordic Bioeconomy Panel in order to prepare a proposition for a Nordic strategy for the bioeconomy in the Nordic countries. The project include the following deliveries: 1) background analyzes of the present status of the Nordic Bioeconomy, 2) Organization and facilitation of stakeholder conference/workshop in January 2017, 3) Facilitation of meeting with the Nordic Bioeconomy Panel in Oslo in February 2017, 4) Final report incl. results from 1 and 2.

We will be notified by the end of week 45 whether we get the contract – and will keep you all informed accordingly. Access to your valuable Nordic network will be highly appreciated for the background analyses!

BioValue is finishing the draft to an illustrated booklet on bio-economy

Lene Lange (DTU) has, in collaboration with BioValue competences, spearheaded an “easy-to-communicate” booklet on the complex issue of bioeconomy and the potentials in Denmark, to be financed and published by the Union 3F. The booklet consist of 16 drawings showing e.g. the different biomass types, the processes, the advantages of biorefinery, value chain perspectives and the potential job creation. The booklet is expected to be published by the end of 2016.

BioValue will be involved in the activities of a H2020-proposal for the call for a supporting action on “Strategies for improving the bioeconomy knowledge of the general public” (BB-08-2017). According to the call, the main tasks of the action would be “to better understand existing barriers, raise awareness by informing citizens and establish interactive, two way dialogues between local research centres, the European Commission and European citizens”. Furthermore, the action should “bring bioeconomy research and innovation closer to the EU citizens to show the potential economic, environmental and social impact of the bioeconomy”. A workshop was held September 15 at Research Centre Foulum with international participation to discuss content of the action and to assess the interest for participating in specific parts of a proposal. The early steps of building a proposal/consortium are established and BioValue intend to contribute to several work packages. Please contact Jane for further information.
