Two-year postdoc position within protein extraction from green biomasses

At the Department of Engineering, Aarhus University, a postdoc position is available starting as soon as possible. The ideal candidate has a research background within biorefinery and protein technology, practical experience with processing of biomass and strong analytical skills.

The chosen candidate will play an active role in developing applied research within the recently established protein platform at Aarhus University. The goal of the platform is to develop, optimise and implement locally produced protein feed/food from green leafy biomass. A new green biorefinery pilot plant has been erected at the Department of Engineering. The candidate will be a part of a dedicated team, bringing the technology from the laboratory to pilot- and demonstration scale, while optimising each unit operation and the integrated process. The main focus of the postdoc position will be on research and development within plant protein -extraction, -precipitation and -separation, both in lab- and pilot scale, as well as implementation of analytical biochemistry tools.

The postdoc position will take part in several research projects and be part of an interdisciplinary platform across different departments at Aarhus University on proteins from green biomass as well as the Bio-Value SPIR platform funded under the SPIR initiative by The Danish Council for Strategic Research and The Danish Council for Technology and Innovation.

The candidate is expected to take part in teaching and supervision of students at the BSc, MSc and PhD levels as well as developing new project applications.

Qualifications:
• Experience in protein precipitation and separation
• Experience in processing of green plant materials
• Experience in analytical biochemistry
• Academic qualifications at PhD level preferably within biorefining
• Documentation of excellent skills within a relevant research area
• Good skills in communication of research results internationally as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Experience in supervising students and teaching at a high academic level will also be a merit
